On being Thankful…

Thanksgiving has very special memories for me. I love the smell of the turkey cooking, seeing family members that have been away from home, watching some good football games on TV, and searching through the big Thanksgiving newspaper full of Black Friday ads looking for good deals. Yes, I used to like being in the hustle-and-bustle of the mall on Black Friday.

But I also like stepping back and slowing it down to be thankful for people that are both new and familiar in my life.

I am thankful for my family, immediate and extended- that have supported Christine and I in our business.

I am thankful for our customers, who trusted our agency with their homes, cars, boats, motorcycles, toys, and lives and how we make sure they are protected. We are there when awful events happen to our customers. Fire, car accidents, water damage, injuries, and death.

I am thankful for our business partnerships and new friends that have formed this past year as a result. I have learned about your families and you have learned about mine. We support each other.

I am thankful for the opportunity to give back to some awesome organizations in our community. Organizations such as The Womens Center, where I learned more about the prevalence of domestic violence and sexual assault and the extreme circumstances that lead people to seek out safe harbor. Organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing for parents of children being treated at Childrens Hospital that do not live nearby and need a place to stay close to their child.

There are so many other smaller organizations that I am thankful for learning about such as Tricias Troop-Cancer Connection and Blessings in a Backpack that serve an important role in helping people in dire circumstances. Although they are small in size, they are just as important in our community.

I am also thankful for your reading our regular blogs. We try to make insurance relatable in real life situations. Insurance is not that easy to understand and our agency tries really hard to educate you on how certain insurance items work and why its important to you.

Our agency hopes that you have a very nice Thanksgiving. Please take the time to slow down during this holiday and think about the people that you are thankful for as well!

Happy Thanksgiving!
