5 Reasons to Start a Trust

“…And although I am definitely NOT a millionaire (not even close!)- my husband and I have been talking with my estate attorney about creating a trust- so that our property and assets will be distributed according to our wishes after we die.  Having a trust in place will save our family money, time, and paperwork.”

Employer Life Benefits Aren’t Enough

If the company you work for goes out of business- your life insurance benefits may go with them.  The older you get- the more expensive it is to obtain life insurance.  The more likely it is that you have developed health conditions that make life insurance more expensive or possibly- even impossible to get.

Engaged Couples- win a Honeymoon Fund!

During the wedding show, Richards Group will be having a Guess the Honeymoon Fund contest, where visitors to the booth can guess how much money is in the Honeymoon Fund box.  At the end of the show, the person who either guesses the exact amount or comes closest without going over will win the contents of the Honeymoon Fund box. (Contents may include objects in addition to money).

It’s a Win-Win-Win!

You get a $10 gift card.
You donate $10 to a non-profit-  and it doesn’t even come out of your own pocket.
And you get a chance to save money on your insurance and/or improve your coverage.

I call that a win-win-win.
It’s a TRIFECTA!

“Why do you always talk about life insurance?”

You may have life insurance through work. And that is great. But it is not enough. And if you get sick… like life-threatening sick- you may not be able to work any longer. If you change jobs (or lose your job), your benefits will end or change with the new employer. The best thing to do for your loved ones is to buy a life insurance policy outside of your employer.

How does getting married affect your insurance?

Getting married is a very exciting time in someone’s life. Since your assets are now combined, there are factors that range from your renters (homeowners) insurance to jewelry riders to auto insurance to life insurance that newlyweds should consider. Talking to a trusted adviser who can do an insurance review and make sure that the newlyweds insurance needs are addressed promptly can save a lot of headaches (and money) in the future.

Why I bought life insurance…

Before I started this business, I had a nice life insurance policy through my employer. And so did my wife. But we both left our jobs and lost the life insurance policies that they offered. We had to start over with life insurance that we purchased on our own.
And lucky for my wife that she bought it when she did, because she developed some major health conditions one year later that would decline her from getting life insurance now.
Just think- if we had started our business just one year later- she would have given up her life insurance policy from her corporate job and then would have been declined life insurance due to her serious medical condition. She would not have been able to feel secure knowing that is she passed away that she would be able to take care of us.

What I Fear Most…

My biggest fear on my job is for one of my customers to die unexpectedly and for their surviving spouse or family member calling me to put in a Life claim. And I have to tell that grieving person that their loved one didn’t want to talk about Life Insurance options.

Life Insurance is not for you. It is for the loved ones you leave behind. It is your gift to take pressure off of paying for the mortgage for your surviving spouse. It is your gift to your children that they don’t have to take out huge student loans for college. Your legacy is allowing your loved ones to move forward in their lives.
