The Non-Profit Excellence Awards program salutessoutheastern Wisconsin’s best corporate citizens and most effective nonprofit organizatio

ns and shines a light on excellence in philanthropy and nonprofit leadership. The recipients of the awards will be saluted at a breakfast program on November 2nd.

Specifically, the Next Generation Leadership award is given to “for-profit, (under 40 year-old) executive who demonstrates leadership and significant contributions to single or multiple nonprofit organizations through active leadership on a board and/or strategic management/guidance.” Christine was nominated multiple times for this award by members of the community who chose to highlight her work during the last few years on the following projects (among others):

  • The Women’s Center’s Advancing Advocates Council
  • Cooking meals at Fisher House
  • Cooking meals at Ronald McDonald House
  • Volunteering at HAWS

In the last two years, Christine has worked on projects that have brought over $60,000 in charitable contributions and grant money to the Women’s Center, Ronald McDonald House, and HAWS. She has also introduced Richards Group’s non-profit referral program– that allows our agency to donate $10 to one of four non-profit agencies for every insurance quote we do that is a referral (no purchase required). She is also an active judge with Wisconsin DECAand gives up her time during the spring to mentor and judge high school business/marketing students for district and state level competitions.

“One of the best opportunities I have had in opening up our own business has been being able to actually work out in the community. Not just handing over a check- but actually working with non-profits. Cooking a meal at the Fisher House or Ronald McDonald House… cleaning out an apartment at the Women’s Center’s shelter so that another resident can live there…. shoveling mulch so the kids can play on the playground… collecting diapers at a community babyshower… I don’t always have money to give non-profits, but I have boatloads of love- and I care… I care alot”– Christine Richards
